OVER 150 people attended Seeds Brunei’s second original production ‘Jong Sarat’ on January 22 at the Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah (YSHHB) Primary School Hall.

Present at the event was Dr Haji Junaidi bin Haji Abdul Rahman, the Permanent Secretary (Core Education) at the Ministry of Education. Also in attendance was Haji Abdul Rahim bin Derus, Acting Director General of Education.

The production saw an all student cast perform an original local screenplay by Mohammad Syafiq bin Haji Abu Bakar. The production also presented original music inspired by the 80’s composed by himself with support from local music producer Adi Rani of ProjecTunes Records and local recording artist Hill Zaini.

Jong Sarat follows the lives of four friends on the cusp of adulthood. Each struggling between duty and desire – pragmatic Razak who wants to support his family, dreamy Nur who is torn between her father’s wishes and her own yearnings, frustrated Asmali who always feels like second best, and loyal Salmah, who wants only to nurture the friendships around her as carefully as she nurtures her parents’ Jong Sarat business.
