During a farewell luncheon at Nur Wanita Restaurant in Serasa Beach yesterday, High Commissioner of India to Brunei Darussalam Dr Ashok Kumar Amrohi and High Commissioner of Malaysia to Brunei Darussalam Datuk Awang Sahak bin Awang Salleh said they believed that the relationship among the nations would continue to blossom.
“There have also been exchanges on various levels. We have had ministers coming from India and delegation visits from Brunei. This has strengthened, deepened and widened cooperation between both countries.
“We’ve had an excellent experience in this beautiful country. We have received continuous support from His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam.
“I leave as a happy person – professionally and personally,” said Dr Amrohi.
Datuk Awang Sahak expressed his gratitude to His Majesty for enhancing socioeconomic ties between the neighbouring countries.

“I have only continued the work of my predecessors and tradition to strengthen bilateral relations between our countries. An example of concerted effort is the recent extension of border operating hours between Brunei and Malaysia, which may benefit both sides in terms of business and tourism.
“His Majesty has been kind and generous whenever Malaysia was in a predicament. The most recent was a $500,000 donation to the country’s flood victims,” he said.
Ambassador of Cambodia to Brunei Darussalam Chhay Sokhan, presented a token of appreciation from the Heads of Diplomatic Missions accredited to Brunei Darussalam to both the outgoing high commissioners.
