OVER 1,500 educators, students and officials attended a thanksgiving prayer at the Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Mosque in the capital to mark the 25th Teachers’ Day celebration.
Minister of Education Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong and Minister of Religious Affairs Pengiran Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohammad bin Pengiran Haji Abdul Rahman were among the top officials at the celebration.
The event commenced with a mass Asar prayers, followed by mass recitation of the Ratib Al-Attas. A special prayer was later read by Zulkifli bin Haji Murat, Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Mosque Superintendent.
Among the present were directors, senior officers as well as staff from the Ministry of Education (MoE) and the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) as well as retired teachers, educators and students from all levels.
Also in attendance were Deputy Minister of Education Dato Seri Setia Haji Yusoff bin Haji Ismail, Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Bahrom bin Pengiran Haji Bahar, permanent secretaries and deputy permanent secretaries from both ministries.

As with previous years, the highlight of the Teachers’ Day celebration this year, which carries the theme ‘Teachers as a catalyst of visionary individual’ will be a national-level ceremony scheduled to be held at the International Convention Centre (ICC) in Berakas this morning.
The Special Mention Award for the 25th Teachers’ Day celebration will also be held this afternoon.
All schools under MoE and MoRA’s jurisdiction will also hold simultaneous religious event on September 28 to mark Teachers’ Day.
