A TOTAL of $103,725 was successfully collected in this year’s Fund Raising Campaign via the SMS Brunei Prihatin for the National Orphans Fund under the Department of Community Development (JAPEM) of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports for the year 1436/2015.
The donation was received yesterday by Datin Paduka Hajah Adina binti Othman, the Acting Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports’ building.
Out of the total of the donations, $82,126 was contributed by customers of DST, while $20,000 was contributed by the DST staff, and was handed over by Abdul Latiff bin Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Setia Dato Paduka Haji Mohd Yusof, in his capacity as a member of DST’s Board of Directors.
Meanwhile, Progresif Cellular Sdn Bhd (PCSB) successfully collected $21,599 in contributions which was handed over by Normah binti Ahmad, Manager of Government Relations of PCSB.

Also present during the donation handover was Dato Paduka Dr Haji Affendy bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports.
The SMS Brunei Prihatin is an annual project that is co-organised by the Department of Community Development, the Department of Radio Televisyen Brunei, DST and PCSB which began in 2005 and has been successfully received by the public where all contributions received are donated to the National Orphans Fund.
The fund raising campaign through the SMS Brunei Prihatin was opened for 45 days this year from June 11 to July 25. The fundraiser was done via SMS as an alternative for the public to contribute to the National Orphans Fund.
