MORE than 50 pints of blood were collected at a blood donation drive yesterday, jointly organised by Fitness Zone (FZ) and the Jerudong Park Medical Centre (JPMC).
The event, which carried the theme of ‘Circulate Love, Give Blood’, was held at the Kiulap branch of Fitness Zone from 2pm to 5pm.
“There were at least 26 members who pledged and registered as donors; and more than 28 from the general public,” said Shelley Busque, the public relations officer of Fitness Zone.
Romeo Tabios, a nurse at the JPMC Blood Bank said, “Every drop of your blood counts. When you donate blood, you give back to the society; it also provides physical and mental benefits to the donor’s health.”
Fitness Zone Managing Director, Wu Chun, said in a press statement, “It’s true that every, or any, hand extended towards charity makes a difference, be it in terms of donating clothing, money or simply volunteering in meaningful activities – but nothing compares to the donation of human blood, and on behalf of Fitness Zone, we are really glad that this drive has turned out well.”
Meanwhile, FZ is inviting the public to join the ‘Combat Cancer 2016’ Les Mills Body Combat programme, on February 24, to mark International Cancer Day.
The hour-long session will be conducted by a guest instructor from Fitness First.
