A KHATAM Al-Quran ceremony was held at the Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah (Yayasan) Complex yesterday as part of several activities being held to mark the 32nd National Day of Brunei Darussalam.
Present as the guest of honour was Dato Paduka Dr Haji Affendy bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin, the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, in his capacity as the member of the Board of Directors of Yayasan and Chairman for the Yayasan Volunteer Committee.
Also present was Haji Awang Mohammad Hanafi bin Pehin Orang Kaya Digadong Seri Diraja Dato Laila Utama Haji Awang Abdul Rahman, the Acting Director of Yayasan.
The religious event began with congregational Asar prayers, led by Ustaz Awang Muhammad Nabil bin Haji Maidin, which was followed with recitation of the Ratib Al-Attas led by Ustaz Haji Azman bin Haji Musa. Both are members of the YSHHB Volunteer Unit.
Yayasan provides a platform for members of the public who are interested in doing community service work. Currently, there are 1,660 volunteers registered under the Yayasan Volunteer Unit, comprising of working professionals and students.
