|     Aziz Idris     |

THE Education UK Exhibition recorded the largest number of visitors to date with over 2,000 people attending the one-day fair yesterday at the Indera Samudra Grand Hall of The Empire Hotel & Country Club in Jerudong.

Organised by the British Council, it was also the largest overseas university exhibition held in Brunei, and has always been eagerly awaited by potential students.

British High Commissioner to Brunei Darussalam David Campbell noted that this year was the busiest education fair to date.

“We have experts representing universities in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. It’s an opportunity for anyone interested in studying in the UK to get expert advice on the huge range of course options available, as well as help with the important decisions on where best to study,” he added.

Unique features in this year’s fair include free seminars, including how to write a great personal statement how to choose a course and studying law in UK conducted by invited speakers from participating universities.

The 40 participating British universities and colleges were on hand to offer advice to students on a wide range of topics, courses, fees and accommodation. It serves as a one-stop shop for future scholars and their families.

Experts from the Ministry of Education, including the Scholarship Unit and the National Accreditation Council, were also on hand to guide potential students on procedures for scholarship application.

The Centre for British Teacher’s (CfBT) education service was also present to assist with information about the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) – that or another certificate of proficiency in English is an entry requirement into UK universities.

Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD) was also at the exhibition for students interested in student loans and financial packages.
