THE Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce in Brunei Darussalam last night celebrated the Sultanate’s 32nd National Day.
The event was also held as a thanksgiving ceremony to celebrate their chamber getting approval from the registrar for the set up of the Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce.
The ceremony also aimed to extend harmonious ties between the local community and the Bangladesh community especially in the field of commerce, expatriates, professionals and so on.
Present as the guest of honour at the event last night was the Bangladesh High Commissioner to Brunei Darussalam, Mohammed Abdul Hye.
Also present at the event were President of the chamber, Liakat Ali and its General-Secretary Mohd Shahjalal, as well as members of the Executive Committee.

The Bangladesh High Commissioner to Brunei Darussalam, said that the commercial activities between both countries are so vast that it can be summed up into many fields such as garments, vegetables, dairy products, fruit juices and many more. Aside from that, many of the 10,000 Bangladeshis working in the country have been actively contributing to the economy of both countries.
He added that the ceremony is partly to thank the Government of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam for the great opportunity that was given to them.
“May Brunei continuously prosper,” he added.
Meanwhile, the general-secretary of the chamber added that with the approval of the establishment of the chamber of commerce, a lot of activities and programmes have been outlined. Among them will be a charity activity to raise funds for the Pengiran Muda Mahkota Al-Muhtadee Billah Fund for Orphans (DANA) in April.
