THE Brunei-Muara District Office through its Licensing and Enforcement Division, has made several checks on warehouse/store businesses in the industrial area of Salambigar yesterday and found that the cleanliness of the environment was poor and that open burning was also conducted at unauthorised places.

Three companies have been fined under the Minor Offences Act (Chapter 30). Earlier in the day, another company also received a similar fine. On the whole, the four companies were slapped with $1,700 fine.

The district office would like to remind traders, businessmen, hawkers, company owners and the general public to give their cooperation in maintaining the cleanliness of the environment around business premises.

The district office will not hesitate to take action and penalties to any individuals or companies found to be dumping in public places or in places where dumping is not allowed.
