Scouts undergo training to attain membership badge

THE Brunei Darussalam Scouts Association put its members through a skills training course for the Scouts Membership Badge.

The course that focused on the concept of leadership with the right discipline incorporated four sessions that ran from January to March was participated by 48 new members.

They were trained on the ‘Scout Promise’, which encompasses the scout’s laws as well as sign and salute and conducted the Grand Howl ceremony. They also learned scout songs and the knotting.

A visit to the Scout Gallery was also conducted to learn the history of the Scout Movement for the last 83 years since its establishment in Brunei Darussalam and 109 years of World Scout history.

The next biggest programme, the 4th Brunei Darussalam Cubboree, will be held on March 18-23 to commemorate the 100th Years Cub Scouts.

The jamboree will be attended by Cub Scouts from Malaysian Scouts Associations from Sabah, Sarawak, Labuan, Terengganu, Perak, Selangor and Johor.

About 500 members are expected to take part.
