THOSE looking to conduct business in government housing areas, particularly the country’s National Housing Scheme (RPN) and Landless Indigenous Citizens Housing Scheme (STKRJ), are encouraged to take advantage of the land allocation for commercial areas in lieu of utilising homes for business purposes.
Speaking during the Legislative Council (LegCo) Meeting yesterday, YB Dato Paduka Awang Haji Bahrin bin Abdullah, the Minister of Development explained in response to a query raised by a LegCo member that under Brunei’s laws, homes under the RPN and STKRJ are not to be used for business purposes, enterprises and rentals, among others.
He further explained that though the terms and conditions stipulated under such regulations do exist, “It does not mean that businesses cannot be established, seeing that such housing schemes have been allocated with commercial locations, where it is hoped that such facilities will be utilised”.
As with any entrepreneurial aspirations, it was also reminded that those interested to venture into the world of business should also adhere to the proper set procedures prior to their operations.
