A RELIGIOUS competition based on reading Al-Quran for adults saw Haji Tajuddin bin Haji Arshad and Sabrina binti Abdullah emerge as winners in the Qari and Qariah categories respectively.
Haji Tajuddin garnered 72 points while Sabrina scored 81 points, at the contest that was held at the Jame’ ‘Asr Hassanil Bolkiah and attended by Haji Mohdar bin Haji Ahmad, the Village Head of Kampong Menglait, who also presented prizes to the winners.
In the Qari category, Saidun @ Rahmat bin Haji Aji @ Haji Abdul Aziz came in second place with 70 points and Muhammad Rusydi @ Arif bin Haji Aji @ Haji Abdul Aziz came in third place with 65.5 points.
The Qariah category saw Hajah Amidah binti Ghafar come in second place with 78.5 points and Datin Hajah Norliha binti Haji Mohd Noor came in third place with 77 points.
The winners will represent the Jame’ ‘Asr Hassanil Bolkiah in a similar competition scheduled for Zone III of the Brunei-Muara District on October 10.
