A GROUP from Sengkurong Sixth Form Centre (PTE Sengkurong) yesterday visited the Tutong District Office to understand its function and role in supporting the local tourism industry.

The visit involving 67 students and five teachers was relevant to the students who will next month be sitting for their final examinations in which ‘Travel and Tourism’ is one of the subjects.

On arrival, the students were welcomed by Tutong District Officer Wardi bin Haji Mohammad Ali, who also operates as the district’s chief executive officer.

Among the topics covered during the visit included the development and progress of the ‘One Village, One Product’ project, which is a venture by the Ministry of Home Affairs to empower community industries, including the ‘Destination Tutong’ initiative.

The main objective is to develop a viable and vibrant tourism industry through the participation of local communities as well as travel and tourism stakeholders.
