IN CONJUNCTION with the 70th birthday celebration of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, the Zainab Mosque in the Belait District hosted a 70 times Khatam Al-Quran.
Attending as the guest of honour was Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong, Minister of Home Affairs.
Also present were Haji Mohd ‘Abdoh bin Dato Seri Setia Haji Abdul Salam, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Home Affairs, and Haji Haris bin Haji Othman, Belait District Officer.
The ceremony was held to answer His Majesty’s call to mould the Sultanate into a Zikir Nation. It is also aimed to express gratitude for Allah the Almighty’s blessings for continued health and longevity of the monarch.
