MORE than 300 committee members from mosques, suraus and prayer halls in the Brunei-Muara District received their Khatam Al-Quran certificates of participation in a ceremony yesterday, having completed their recitation of the 30 Juzuks of the Al-Quran.
Present as the guest of honour at the religious event was Haji Mohd Serudin bin Haji Timbang, the Director of the Islamic Legal Unit at the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
The ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah, led by the guest of honour, which was followed by the Khatam participants giving recitations from selected chapters of the Al-Quran.
It continued with a mass recitation of the Doa Takhtim and the Doa Khatam, led by Haji Hanafi bin Haji Zaini, Mosque Affairs Officer, in his capacity as the Head of Zone 2A; and a Tahlil recitation, led by Haji Kamaruzzaman bin Haji Jakar, Mosque Affairs Officer at the Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam Mosque.

A Doa Tahlil was later read by Haji Zamhari bin Haji Ibrahim, the Imam of the Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam Mosque, followed by a Dikir Marhaban performance.
The ceremony was organised by the Brunei-Muara Mosque Affairs Office in collaboration with the members of the Mosque Takmir Committee of Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam Mosque, with the aim of strengthening the cooperation among its committee members and the Mosque Affairs Department.
