THE Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports yesterday continued its ‘Program Kembara Ramadhan’ for the Islamic year of 1437H in the Belait District by organising Tedarus and Khatam Al-Quran event for the youth which took place at Pekan Seria Mosque.
The guest of honour at the event was Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports.
The Tedarus and Khatam Al-Quran ceremony for the youth is one of the annual projects conducted by the ministry during the holy month of Ramadhan since its commencement in 2003, and many parties concerned with the affairs of the youths are involved in the programme including government agencies, youth associations as well as the youths themselves.
Around 190 youths of Belait District attended yesterday’s event representing Islamic Studies Department, IBTE Jefri Bolkiah Campus, Anthony Abell College, Pengiran Anak Puteri Hajah Rashidah Sa’adatul Bolkiah Secondary School and Youth Association.

The event commenced with mass recitation of Tedarus Al-Quran by the youth and followed by the Khatam Al-Quran ceremony and Doa Takhtim, and Dikir Marhaban.
The ceremony continued with the readings of Doa Allah Peliharakan Sultan dan Negara by the Imam of Pekan Seria Mosque and mass Zohor prayer.
Also present at the event was Dato Paduka Dr Haji Affendy bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin and Datin Paduka Dr Hajah Norlila binti Dato Paduka Haji Abdul Jalil, the Permanent Secretaries at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports; acting deputy permanent secretary, head of departments, senior officers and departments under it.
