THE Royal Embassy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Brunei Darussalam hosted an iftar (breaking of fast) yesterday, at The Rizqun International Hotel in Gadong.
Among the guests were Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman, the Minister of Religious Affairs; Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports; and Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Major General Dato Paduka Seri Mohd Tawih bin Abdullah, the Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces.
Also present were the ambassadors from several Islamic countries to Brunei Darussalam, together with senior government officers and personnel from the Saudi embassy.
On hand to welcome the guests was Hussain Mohammed M Al-Dajani, the Chargé d’Affaires of the Royal Embassy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
In a statement, Al-Dajani said that the Brunei Government has made commendable efforts in the building and continuous maintenance of mosques around the country for the purposes of worship and ritual prayer.

“This fact, along with the other favours that Allah the Almighty has bestowed upon Brunei Darussalam such as peace and tranquility, represents another phase in the cultural and religious evolution of the people of Brunei Darussalam, along with a fine interaction of its communities, with their respect and appreciation for each other’s culture,” he said.
On his experiences of Ramadhan in the Sultanate, Al-Dajani said that spending the holy month here has its own unique flavour with its rich atmosphere and nature.
“It gives us all a remarkable motivation to perform our prayers, as well as generously giving our utmost best at the personal and collective levels.”
He also took the opportunity to wish the people of Brunei Darussalam more prosperity and stability in the years to come.
Shortly after iftar, the guests took part in the mass Maghrib prayer led by Ustaz Haji Harun bin Haji Junid, the Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
