THE Ministry of Health (MoH) has always focussed on the issue of product safety in cube businesses to ensure that products purchased by the public are safe to be consumed or used.
This was stated by Dr Mohammad Hussein, Head of the Food Safety and Quality Control Division, Ministry of Health, during an interview on the sidelines of the briefing session on the product safety guidelines for cube business entrepreneurs held at the Al-‘Afiah Hall, MoH yesterday.
He emphasised on the importance of product safety in Brunei especially with the thriving cube businesses – where entrepreneurs also sell food and health products.
The ministry also advocates the enhancement of the business environment in Brunei Darussalam in helping the community and national economy in general, Dr Mohammad added.
Meanwhile, Ismanorf Izah binti Haji Ismail, a cube business owner who attended the briefing, said the information imparted yesterday proved to be useful to ensure that business premises are always kept clean and tidy.
She added that the session also served as a platform for entrepreneurs to exchange ideas with officers from various government agencies.

The entrepreneur also hoped for other food businesses to not be left unnoticed in abiding by the regulations on food safety. She cited certain grocery stores that continue to sell fried noodles and other food perishables that were prepared early in the morning late into the afternoon and at times into the early evening hours.
“This can be a health hazard for consumers especially if the food has gone bad,” she said. “This goes against the regulation stated at the briefing as food perishables should be on shelves for only about four or five hours.”
