THE Kampong Kilanas Mosque Takmir Committee hosted a Khatam Al-Quran ceremony for 60 male and female participants yesterday, in a conclusion to the nightly Tedarus vigils for the month of Ramadhan.
Present as the guest of honour was Pehin Orang Kaya Indera Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Suyoi bin Haji Osman, the Minister of Education.
Also present was Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, who is also patron of the mosque.
The event began with a recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah to initiate the Khatam ceremony. The recitations of the Doa Khatam, Tahlil and Doa Arwah were led by Haji Alias bin Haji Ibrahim, the Imam of the Kampong Kilanas Mosque.

This was followed with a recital of the Dikir Marhaban and a presentation of souvenirs to the Khatam Al-Quran participants by the guest of honour.
The event continued with a reading of the Doa Selamat and the breaking of fast followed by mass Maghrib prayer.
