FOURTEEN representatives from the Committee C-Finance and Economy of the Republic of Timor-Leste, led by its President Virgilio Maria Dias Marcal, paid a courtesy call on YB Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Lela Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul Rahman bin Dato Setia Haji Mohamed Taib, Speaker of the Legislative Council (LegCo).
The visit took place yesterday, at the Legislative Council Building in Jalan Menteri Besar.
The courtesy call provided a platform for Brunei Darussalam and the Republic of Timor-Leste to exchange views and ideas and at the same time, further enhancing cooperation and bilateral ties between countries.
Also present during the visit was Pehin Orang Kaya Pekerma Jaya Dato Paduka Haji Judin bin Haji Asar, Secretary to the Cabinet Minister’s Council and Clerk to the Legislative Council.

Other members of the Legislative Council present included YB Datin Paduka Dayang Hajah Salbiah binti Haji Sulaiman, YB Dato Paduka Awang Haji Abdullah bin Haji Mohd Jaafar and YB Awang Haji Mohd Shafiee bin Ahmad.
Also attending the visit was the Chargé d’Affaires Embassy of Timor-Leste in Brunei Darussalam, Erminio da Silva Pinto.
In a short interview with the media, the President of the Committee C-Finance and Economy of the Republic of Timor-Leste, Virgilio Maria Dias Marcal, stated his hope for enhancing the bilateral ties between Brunei Darussalam and Timor-Leste.
“This work visit aimed to learn more about Brunei Darussalam and encourage the economic cooperation between the two countries, especially in attracting investment opportunities into Timor-Leste,” he said.
