THE residents of Jalan Bukit Sinadur in the Kampong Panchor Mengkubau are again voicing out their concerns after the street lights in their area went dark within one week of reporting the problem to the relevant body.

One of the residents told the Bulletin that they have since been keeping watch at night for suspicious activity in the vicinity, to the point where some were tired at work during the day.

“With the streets in total darkness, it is really a worrying state for most of us, as there have been theft cases at our area, as well as in the neighbouring streets. Some irresponsible people are taking advantage of the dark,” he said.

One month ago, the residents filed a complaint, but when no action was taken, they decided to settle the matter themselves by turning on the power at the main switchboard. The street lights began to work again, but unfortunately, without a functioning timer, the lamps remained switched on round the clock.

After lodging the complaint and with no relevant body willing to resolve the problem, they have decided to turn to the media, in the hope of settling the matter once and for all.
