THE Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) hosted a Hari Raya gathering for the Muslim converts of the Tutong District yesterday, with a delegation led by Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman, the Minister of Religious Affairs.
The gathering was held at the Tutong District New Converts Association (PESATU) Centre, in Kampong Lubok Pulau.
Among the minister’s delegation was Ustazah Hajah Siti Azizah binti Haji Musa, Director of the Islamic Da’wah Centre, as well as officers and staff members from the Islamic Da’wah Centre and the Dakwah Unit of Tutong District.
The ceremony began with a recitation of the Al-Quran by Haji Muhammad Faizul bin Haji Muhammad Azlan, the winner of the 2014 National Al-Quran Reading, Memorisation and Dakwah Singing Competition for Converts. It was followed with a recitation of the Doa Selamat.

The programme continued with welcoming remarks by Haji Hasbie Azrol bin Abdullah Liat, the President of PESATU, and a performance from teachers in the Tutong District’s guidance classes for converts. It also witnessed a presentation of Hari Raya gifts to six senior members of PESATU, aged 60 years and above.
Also present at the event were several members of the Legislative Council, including YB Orang Kaya Maha Bijaya Awang Haji Othman bin Uking, YB Orang Kaya Jaya Putera Dato Paduka Haji Muhammad Taha bin Abdul Rauf, and YB Awang Haji Ramli bin Haji Lahit.
