A WORKING dinner was hosted yesterday evening at the Empire Hotel & Country Club to welcome the Asean delegates who are in the Sultanate for the two-day long 12th Senior Officer Meeting Culture and Arts (SOMCA), which starts today.
Present as the chairperson of the working dinner was Datin Paduka Dr Hajah Norlila binti Dato Paduka Haji Abdul Jalil, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS), who will also be the Head of the Brunei delegation for the 12th SOMCA.
In an interview, Datin Paduka Dr Hajah Norlila said that the working dinner was an opportunity for senior officers to look into the details of the agenda of the SOMCA meeting, such as issues that will be raised in order to achieve consensus during the 7th Asean Ministers Responsible for Culture and Arts (7th AMCA) meetings this week.
She added that highlight events during the week will be the launch of Bandar Seri Begawan as the Asean City of Culture and the Gala Performance of the Asean Festival of Arts at the Main Theatre, Prime Minister’s Office.
The working dinner was attended by SOMCA representatives from Singapore, Thailand, Philippines, Cambodia, and Malaysia.
