THE Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA), in joint collaboration with the Brunei-Muara District Office, held a Hijrah forum yesterday, at the Muhibbah Hall in Berakas.
Present as the guest of honour was Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Utama Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Yahya bin Begawan Mudim Dato Paduka Haji Bakar, the former Minister of Industry and Primary Resources (MIPR).
Also present was the former Deputy Minister of Home Affairs, Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof.
The forum was chaired by Haji Rosli bin Haji Mohd Salleh, the Acting Assistant Director of Islamic Education Department at MoRA.

Among the panelists invited to discuss the theme of this year’s Hijrah celebration, ‘Berhijrah Untuk Membangun’ (Migrating towards Progress), were Dr Haji Mazanan bin Haji Yusof, the Head of Research at the State Mufti’s Office; Datin Dr Hajah Mariah binti Pehin Datu Pekerma Dewa Dato Paduka Haji Abdul Rahim, a lecturer from the Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA); and Hajah Rusita binti Haji Yahya, the Acting Head of the Islamic Education at MoRA.
The forum was held with the intent of providing an opportunity for the Muslim community to learn about aspects of life in accordance with Islamic teachings, besides enhancing their knowledge and understanding of Islam. It is also hoped that the talks would encourage the audience to appreciate the true meaning of Hjirah, and apply it to their daily existence.
