RETIRED rank-and-file police personnel of the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) of 2014-2015 session were feted in a farewell reception yesterday in the presence of the chief guest, the Commissioner of Police, Dato Paduka Seri Haji Mohd Jammy bin Haji Muhd Shah Al-Islam and spouse.
In his speech, the Commissioner of Police on behalf of officers and other police personnel, expressed his gratitude to the retired personnel for their excellent services towards the Royal Brunei Police Force, making it stand firm and succeed in facing any challenges for the safety and prosperity of the people and nation.
“In their careers, they went through different phases according to their placement. The police force and nation appreciate their meritorious service, sacrifices and contributions to uphold the task as stated in the police force Act Chapter 50 and General Orders of the police force,” he added.
“The rank-and-file personnel feted today were the pillar of the force. I remember a piece of advice from my late father who has served for 30 years in the police force that the rank-and-file personnel needs to be guided, kept in good care and their welfare looked after. Who are the police force without the rank-and-file?” the Commissioner of Police added.

He added that the pledges made by the rank-and-file personnel towards the police force would continue even after they have retired, “Your loyalty and discipline would become an asset to nation building albeit indirectly. They can contribute through various means in strengthening Islamic teachings and set as an example to the new generation and becomes a shield against any social illness and wrongdoing that could affect the people in this country in facing era of modernisation.”
Meanwhile a retired personnel in his speech said the gathering gave a significant meaning and was highly valued by the retired staff and they pray for Allah the Almighty to bless police officers in carrying out their duties.
The gathering was held at the Hassanal Bolkiah Stadium of Police Headquarters in Gadong. Souvenirs were presented to the retired personnel and their spouses.
