BANK Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD) has announced that its 9th Home Showcase Festival will be taking place from September 11 to October 16, 2016.

The announcement was made in a press conference yesterday at BIBD’s headquarters in the capital, which was led by Hajah Nurul Akmar binti Haji Md Jaafar, BIBD’s Deputy Head of Retail Banking Group, alongside representatives of the showcase partner My Space Gallery and event manager The Collective Art Events.

This year, the annual BIBD Home Showcase Festival will be returning for its 9th edition with a fresh new range of home solutions and a different concept, as it will be held as a series of events over a period of one month, with each event having a specific theme.

It was explained yesterday that the festival is based around a “home ownership concept”, showcasing home-related products and latest property listings, and will also include the participation of local young, well-known and rising entrepreneurs and small and medium enterprises (SMEs) who will be offering various products.

The whole setup, particularly the opening event on September 11 and closing event on October 16, will replicate an up-scale market with a local twist, and will see family members given the opportunity to come together to enjoy their weekend and spend quality time, while also looking for home solutions.

The main objective of the showcase is to create awareness and instil an appreciation on the importance of financial planning and management, as well as to guide customers in making appropriate and timely decisions in home ownership, either to live in or as an investment.

With the support of the Collective Arts Events, the 9th Showcase is designed to create a difference – a transformative view of BIBD as a “bank for everyone”, engaging with the public through fun activities and strengthening relationships with the bank’s stakeholders and the public.

BIBD highlighted that, in addition, they would like to create memorable and quality moments, and impart the value of Bruneian at Heart to all segments of the community, and in themselves.

The 9th BIBD Home Showcase Festival will be held at BIBD branches, and will serve customers and the public to experience what the showcase has to offer, while at the same time providing with them with an understanding about BIBD products and services.

They will also be able to access the various promotions available offered throughout the home showcase period.

Visitors to the Home Showcase will be able to have a session with BIBD’s personal bankers to discuss and work out their financial risk appetite, recommending a financial plan and helping them search for a home or a property they desire, within their means.

“As a Bruneian at Heart financial institution, we hope to inspire our customers and the community to think ahead and prioritise what’s important in life,” said Hajah Nurul Akmar.

“We want to see BIBD as their bank of choice, where they can seek further advice for their future endeavours such as setting up a business, a fund for their children’s education and growing their wealth through property investments.”

BIBD is partnering with My Space Gallery Sdn Bhd – a company that caters for home, office and building solutions, as well as design and product consultancy.

They offer a wide range of brands and collections with upscale tastes and brands from renowned manufacturers around the globe such as sanitary wares and bathroom products, kitchen appliances and accessories, modular kitchens, wardrobes, ironmongery furniture, decorative and general lighting, walls, floor and feature tiles as well as architectural products.

The Home Showcase will also see the participation of well-known and reputable partners in the property, realtor and housing development industry, who will showcase properties at various strategic locations, with modern concepts and designs.

With the combination of modern home design and internal appliances, BIBD said that there may appeal to young, high-flying, sophisticated individuals who are looking for a home that is modern and comfortable, and that fits their personality.

To help create a unique experience that is welcoming, warm, interesting and fun, BIBD is supported by the Collective Art Events, a local company that specialises in promoting collaboration among local creatives, and a platform to garner exposure and develop the next generation of local talent and young entrepreneurs to be competitive locally and at international level.

This will be further enlivened by the presence of more than 40 vendors participating in the festival.

It was also highlighted yesterday that the showcase is an initiative in line with BIBD’s strategy, aligning their efforts towards supporting Vision 2035 in meeting housing needs of the people of Brunei and to diversify the economy by supporting the development and growth of local SMEs.

In conjunction with the Home Showcase Festival, BIBD also announced that a number of campaigns will be taking place, including an Instagram competition that is running from September 9 to October 3.

The competition is open to the public, and participants are asked to take a photo to portray what a home means to them and hashtag #BIDBwhathomemeans on their Instagram account.

This is done with the hope of inspiring customers to start dreaming about their ideal home.

The top 15 customers who take the best photo to portray “what home means” will win themselves $50 Supa Save vouchers and a seat at the Sunset Social Mixer event on October 9.

In addition, a drawing competition will be running from September 9 until October 14, and is open to participants aged between four to 15 years old.

Winners will receive prizes in the form of cash deposited into their account in the amounts of $200, $100 and $50 respectively for first, second and third place.

The drawing competition is intended to give the opportunity for the younger members of the public to share their thoughts and visions of what home ownership means to them.

This, BIBD explained, is hoped to create awareness on the importance of home ownership at an early age, apart from providing them with an understanding of financial planning.

The details of the Home Showcase Festival are available on BIBD’s website, www.bibd.com.bn and social media, at any of their branches or by calling their 24/7 contact centre at 2238181.
