SESAME World Technology (B) Sdn Bhd, having a team of professionals experienced in architecture and design, offers high-quality technological products such as computer-rendered imaging, digitally mapped visualisation, fly-through animations, cinematic productions and interactive solutions for real estate projects.

The Beijing-based company that led the industry in 3D graphics, animation, digital mapping, computer rendering and commercial movies, registered in late 2014 and began operations in Brunei Darussalam this month.

The joint venture between a local company and its Chinese counterpart has its research base in the Sultanate at the Design and Technology building, said Operations Manager, Alex How.

Here in Brunei we currently have three projects: the Sonic Ray, a directional sound system that targets sound towards a targeted area and can be deployed at a closed area such as museum, theatre, airport, exhibition halls and even within a set boundary outdoors without creating much noise pollution.

Sesame also runs a Computer Graphics (CG) Academy to train local Bruneians as part of efforts towards promoting technology transfer, in collaboration with the Brunei Economic Development Board (BEDB) and the Authority for Info-Communications technology industry of Brunei (AITI).

Following a three-month long nationwide campaign, the response was overwhelming with seven rounds of interviews for 50 shortlisted candidates to select 15 locals comprising graduates of higher education institutions for the nine-month long course conducted at a local training centre.

Alex How said, “We are transferring this knowledge to them in computer graphics on architecture based on our experience from the Beijing Olympics, Shanghai World Expo and several other major events. In the future, some of these students may even be future employees.”

The operations manager further disclosed that Sesame is sponsoring two Masters’ Degree and one PhD student at the Institut Teknologi Brunei carrying out research in the field of audio and sounds.

“In the future we are looking into the possibility of the students working with us via attachments and from there we can pick up the more promising ones.”

With researchers from China expected to be flown here, “What we will do first is promote our products here and then gradually we will target the rest of the Southeast Asian region, while in Beijing we are starting our base from the city and pushing towards south Shanghai and Shenzen, from where we will gradually move into other Chinese cities.”
