A TOTAL of 63 participants recently participated in the Youth District Exchange Programme, which was held for the first time by the Youth and Sports Department, to coincide with the 11th National Day celebrations.

Sixteen youths from the Brunei-Muara District, 15 from Belait District, 25 from Temburong District and seven from Tutong District took part in the three-day programme aimed at cultivating a sense of responsibility and encouraging positive thinking among young people.

The programme began on November 2 with a registration session and a special talk by Malai Haji Abdullah bin Malai Haji Othman, the President of SMARTER Brunei. Later, the participants attended a thanksgiving ceremony for the National Youth Day celebrations at the Pengiran Muda ‘Abdul Malik Mosque in Kampong Tungku Katok, where they also performed mass prayer and joined in a recitation of Surah Yaasiin.

On the following day, after attending the opening of the 11th National Youth Day celebration at the International Convention Centre (ICC) in Berakas, the youths took part in several activities which included a clean-up campaign at the Kampong Pulaie Mosque and a visit to the Centre for Children with Special Needs and SMARTER Brunei’s centres.
