IN AN effort to boost its reputation abroad, Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) actively fosters strategic cooperation with higher educational institutions.
In view of this, UNISSA recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Universiti Islam Antarabangsa (UIA) Malaysia at a ceremony held at Bangunan Rektori UIA, in Gombak, Malaysia. The MoU was first signed in 2009.
Signing on behalf of UNISSA was Dr Haji Norarfan bin Haji Zainal, Rector of UNISSA, while UIA was represented by its Rector, Professor Dato’ Sri Dr Zaleha binti Kamaruddin.
In a speech, the UIA Rector expressed interest in broadening collaboration with UNISSA in various field, especially in the halal sector – in line with UNISSA’s objective of establishing a Halal Research Excellence Centre.

Through the memorandum, both universities have agreed to continue and solidify existing cooperation in the fields of academic, mobility programme for students and staff, and research in Islamic studies, among others.
UIA is one of the most prestigious Islamic universities. Integrating Islamic knowledge and values in various disciplines, the university also has a targeted vision of becoming an excellent higher international institution with the objective of highlighting the dynamic and progressive roles of the Islamic Ummah in all branches of knowledge and intellectual discourse.
