A HORRIFIC accident during rush hour at the Tungku Link Highway on Monday evening (Nov 14) claimed the life of a 22-year-old local man, the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) said.
Police said the victim was behind the wheel of a car. A male passenger and female passenger, aged 52 and 49, escaped with minor injuries.
Eyewitnesses at the scene said a large truck allegedly rammed the man’s car from behind while the car was reportedly parked at the side of the road.
Personnel from Fire and Rescue Department of Kampong Rimba and Kampong Beribi Fire Stations were dispatched to the scene following the accident.
Rescue personnel said that they managed to free the man trapped in the badly mangled vehicle within three minutes.
Paramedics later rushed him to the Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha (RIPAS) Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
The driver of the truck sustained minor injuries, police said.
