Delegates leave country for Asean-India Students’ Exchange

A FOUR member delegation departed from the Brunei International Airport yesterday to participate in the Asean-India Students Exchange Programme that is taking place in Mumbai, India from November 20 to 29.

Attending the departure was the Acting Deputy Director of Youth and Sports Hajah Noor Maslina binti Haji Sulaiman.

The delegation will be participating in a 10-day programme, which includes a work visit to Mumbai, Pune, Agra and New Delhi as well as visiting factories such as Godrej & Boyce Mfg Co Ltd, Tata Motors and Maruti Factory, and historical places such as Taj Mahal, Humayun’s Tomb and Agra Fort. The delegates will also be given a chance to interact with the students at local colleges and universities.

In an interview with the Bulletin, the head delegate, Siti Mar Atussholiha binti Mohd Hisa, said she looked forward to the exchange of ideas and values that can be implemented in Brunei, as well as cultural exchanges between the participants in the programme.

The Asean-India Students Exchange Programme is an initiative founded by the Prime Minister of India, Dr Manmohan Singh in 2007, aimed on creating understanding of social and economic aspects between Asean and India. The programme also aimed on promoting the exchange of ideas, values and culture between the participants to promote peace and understanding.
