MEMBERS of the public still have the opportunity to donate school supplies to help children from the less fortunate families through the Drop Box Project organised by the Kampong Panchor Mengkubau National Housing Scheme Village Consultative Council (MPK) that will end on December 31, 2016.
In an interview with Hajah Mardini binti Haji Mohd Noor, Head of the MPK Kampong Mengkubau Women’s Bureau, she said this is the first project conducted by the council.
She was grateful that the project has been receiving an overwhelming response from the public.
“We are in awe of the generosity of Brunei citizens and it is hoped that through this donation, we will be able to help many less fortunate students to prepare their new school year with new school supplies and provide them meaningful educational experiences,” she said.
Apart from donating new school supplies such as stationeries, she hoped that more donors will also donate other supplies such as exercise books for these children.
According to her, the objectives of the project are to help the less fortunate students to enjoy their schooling sessions and provide them better access to education just like everyone else.
At the same time, it also aims to ease the burden of their families in preparing their school supplies for next year.
Individuals who wish to donate school supplies are welcome to visit the Drop Box Project at Mia Corner located at No 25, Simpang 40, Jalan Bukit Sinadur, RPN Kampong Panchor Mengkubau.
The donation will later be distributed to the children who have been selected by members of the council.
