STUDENTS of the Undergraduate Counselling course at Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) recently took the initiative to organise a motivational career programme titled, “Developing Entrepreneur Interest Through Career Talk”.
The motivational talk was held at the lecture theatre of the Tanjong Maya Secondary School, Tutong. Among the guest speakers was Awangku Kamal Ghadafi bin Pengiran Haji Suhaimi from the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports; and Adam Hague, a freelance photographer, and a representative of the Small Medium Enterprise (SME) Ajwa Kitchen.
Also present was Associate Professor Dr Azizi bin Yahaya from the Continuing Education Centre at UBD. The programme was attended by Year 8 and 9 students, with some Year 6 pupils from selected schools in the Tutong District.
Among the objectives of the motivational talk was giving exposure and awareness on career opportunities in entrepreneurship. The concept of a startup company offering innovative services or products has received significant interest from youths, and is clearly evident in the increase of SMEs development.
