Their Royal Highnesses attend swimming meet

HIS Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah ibni His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Her Royal Highness Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah binti Pengiran Haji Salleh Ab Rahaman yesterday attended the 4th Brunei Open Swimming Championships to watch Yang Teramat Mulia Pengiran Muda ‘Abdul Muntaqim compete in the 100m butterfly, 100m freestyle and 50m backstroke events at the Aquatics Centre of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex yesterday.

Also present at the event was Yang Teramat Mulia Pengiran Anak Muneerah Madhul Bolkiah.

Yang Teramat Mulia Pengiran Muda ‘Abdul Muntaqim set a new national age group record in the 100m butterfly event after clocking a time of 2:16.15s, eclipsing his previous time of 2.31:89s he set at the 23rd Brunei Age Group competition.

Yang Teramat Mulia also set a new personal best time of 1:41.44s in the 100m freestyle, shaving his old mark of 1:41.62s.

He also competed in the 100m backstroke event where he recorded a time of 57.66s.

In total, Yang Teramat Mulia accomplished four new national age group records including breaking a six-year record set by Joshua Young in the 50m breaststroke and 50m freestyle events.

In recognition of Yang Teramat Mulia achievements with the quartet of new national age group records, the prince was presented with a certificate of achievement by the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof.
