Four restaurants ordered shut due to poor hygiene

FOUR restaurants were ordered to stop operations temporarily by the law enforcement unit of the Bandar Seri Begawan Municipal Department yesterday due to poor hygienic standards.

Two restaurants are in Batu Bersurat while the rest are in Menglait area.

The actions were based on the inspections carried out by the Food Safety and Quality Control Division under the Health Services Department, Ministry of Health where it was found that the cleanliness level of the premises were under 50 per cent.

The move is to make sure that the food prepared and served are safe for consumption, authorities said.

Managers of these restaurants are advised to make use of good quality utensils and make sure that the food prepared is safe from any contamination.

The four restaurants can only be reopen once the level of cleanliness achieved the strict requirements set by the concerned authorities.

The Law Enforcement Unit of the BSB Municipal Department reminded all restaurant managers to always maintain high level of cleanliness at their premises.
