Brunei team leaves for 1st Asean Civil Service Games

THE handover of Brunei Darussalam’s national flag has officially marked the country’s formal participation at the 1st Asean Civil Service Games in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The national flag was handed to Haji Rosmadee bin Haji Mohd Daud, the Deputy Director of Youth and Sports, by Haji Yahya bin Haji Idris, the Permanent Secretary (Corporate Affairs and Public Administration) at the Prime Minister’s Office, who was the guest of honour.

As Chef de Mission, Haji Rosmadee will lead a contingent of 32 officers and athletes in three sporting events, namely golf, futsal and 10-pin bowling.

The 1st Asean Civil Service Games is scheduled to run from November 15 to 19.

Haji Aminuddin bin Haji Buntar, the Acting Director of Management Services, was also at the Brunei International Airport to bid the contingent farewell.

The guest of honour offered the athletes words of support and encouragement.

The five-day games are open to public servants from Asean member states, and it is estimated that each contingent will comprise a maximum of 60 participants, including athletes and officials.

Five events including bowling, golf, badminton, futsal and table tennis will be contested.

The aim of the games is to improve friendship, networking and understanding among public servants from Asean member states, through sports.
