THE Suri Seri Begawan Hospital Blood Donation Centre received 20 pints of blood through a blood donation drive held at the KB Sentral Shopping Centre yesterday.

Senior Scientific Officer Salmah binti Zaini, who led the drive, noted that there was an encouraging number of blood donors, some of whom were shoppers.

The blood drive targeted donors from KB Sentral, in the form of employees and shop owners.

Salmah explained that the a similar campaign was held last Friday, organised by Kg Panaga National Housing Scheme, with cooperation of the Mukim Seria Consultative Council and Kg Panaga Volunteers Committee. A total of 21 pints of blood was collected.

“We hope such campaigns will be held regularly because our unit needs adequate blood in the bank. Use of blood is currently on the rise – at 120 pints a month, at least,” she said.

The drive also aimed to raise awareness on the purpose of donating blood. Blood type ‘O’ is the most commonly needed blood.
