OVER 300 Muslimah from across the country attended the first in a series of An-Nisa Grand Forums titled ‘Muslimah Transformasi Ummah’ (Muslim women developing the community) which took place yesterday at the Sultan Sharif Ali Mosque in Kampong Sengkurong.
Held in observance of the new Islamic Year 1437H, the forum began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah led by Hajah Nurul Asme binti Haji Amit.
Among the guest panellists at the forum were Dr Hajah Rose binti Abdullah, a lecturer from Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA); Ustazah Hajah Ummi Faezah binti Haji Abdul Rahman, a PhD student in Dakwah and Leadership from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM); and Ustazah Siti Hurul Ain Diyana binti Haji Abdul Majid @Vieana, a Masters student in Usuluddin from UNISSA.
The forum was chaired by Dayangku Nur Chichi Tia Dewi binti Pengiran Haji Chuchu.
The issues discussed included the role of a Muslimah in the development of the Ummah, what it means to be a Muslimah, and the position of Muslim women in the 21st Century.
The forum is a response to the efforts of the Government of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, in moving towards a ‘Zikir Nation,’ where a woman’s role in society can no longer be denied.
The forum was organised by members of the Syababul Iman, a youth club which is run by the Sultan Sharif Ali Mosque in Kampong Sengkurong.
