THE State Mufti’s Office announced yesterday that its department has published the “Irsyad Hukum 2014” as a guidebook for religious issues affecting Muslims in the Sultanate, as well as on a regional and international level.
In a press conference held at the State Mufti’s Office, Haji Mohidin bin Haji Mustapha, the Acting Director of Administration, explained that the annual publication of Irsyad Hukum (‘Rightly Guided Laws’) is meant to serve as a guide in assisting Muslims to overcome doubts on religious matters. He said that the 341-page publication covers 35 topics of discussion, which include confusion when performing prayers (Solat), spousal maintenance (Nafkah), paying tithes (Zakat) and funeral rites.
The Irsyad Hukum 2014 is now for sale at the Publishing and Information Division of the State Mufti’s Office, DarulIfta, Jalan Pengiran Babu Raja, and soon local bookshops.
Among the issues highlighted in the guide are various topics that have been discussed and published in the government newspaper – Pelita Brunei – between January and December 2014.

Haji Mohidin also informed the media yesterday that the State Mufti’s Office will be taking part in the Malaysia Book Expo on November 25 and 29 at the Putra World Trade Centre.
He added that books published by the State Mufti’s Office are usually in high demand, not only among locals, but also abroad. Several international libraries, including the Library of Congress, will also be adding the new guidebook to their archival collections.
