THE 25th Asean Armies Rifle Meet (AARM) was officially opened yesterday at the Military Tactical Shooting Field, Thanarat Camp, Hua Hin in Bangkok, Thailand.
Present at the opening ceremony were the Deputy Commanders or Deputy Chiefs of Army of the 10 Asean countries.
Brunei Darussalam was represented by Colonel Haji Muhammad Haszaimi bin Bol Hassan, Deputy Commander of the Royal Brunei Land Force (RBLF).
A march-past parade of 10 Asean countries’ contingent participating in the AARM and the flag-raising ceremony of the AARM Championship was held during the opening ceremony.
The Deputy Chief of the Royal Thai Army, General Walit Rochanapakdee, also delivered a welcoming speech followed by the performance skills of martial arts by the personnel of the Royal Thai Army.
Following this, all the Army Deputy Chiefs of the 10 Asean countries were invited to participate in the Novelty Shoot at a distance of 25 metres. The Army Deputy Chiefs also planted a tree as remembrance of the prestige event.
A total of 56 RBLF personnel are participating in the tournament, which is led by Lieutenant Colonel Muhammad Wata bin Abdullah Awat.
At the tournament, the RBLF AARM contingent is being stationed at Seapine 2, Military Recreation and Rehabilitation Centre, Prachuap Khiri Kan from November 7 to 28.
This year’s AARM Championship is being participated by 310 shooters from all Asean countries and five shooting categories in 22 matches will be contested.
Among the categories are Pistol Ladies and Pistol Men, Rifle, Carbine and General Purpose Machine Gun (GPMG).
