DISC Jockey (DJ) Amad dropped his bass-laden tracks on the deck to secure the title of top DJ at the finals of the recent Jerudong Park Country Club (JPCC) DJ Mix Competition.

DJ Amad expressed to the Bulletin his delight at bagging the title. Known for his versatility, DJ Amad uses a wide variety of musical genres every time his turntables spin.

His 15-minute performance during the finals was a mixture of Electro Dutch and Progressive House, going from genre to genre and seamlessly raising the vibe of the crowd at the Jerudong Park Amphitheatre.

“I didn’t expect the win as the competition was tough and very talented,” he said, adding that every competitor was a winner that night.

This was his second attempt at the local DJ competition, after bagging second place in a similar 2013 battle.

DJ Jimmy Roll took the first-runner up position, followed by DJ Fiiz the Shiiz, both of whom brought their own styles ranging from deep house, hip-hop to old-time 90s classics.

Over 20 local acts brought their mixtapes to compete in the JPCC DJ Mix Competition, which was split into Open Class category and Rookies Class category.

DJ Jakey reigned supreme in the Rookies Class category.

The first prize for the Open Class category was $250 in cash and JPCC cash vouchers, followed by a $200 cash prize and a JPCC voucher for the second place winner, and a $150 cash prize and a JPCC voucher for third place winner.

The competition serves as a platform for local DJs to compete and demonstrate their talents, while at the same time, spur creativity and spark interest in the local DJ scene.

The event was organised by JPCC in collaboration with Leiley Production House (LPH) and Black Tech Co, a local sound system manufacturer.
