PREVENTING mosquitoes from creating breeding grounds is a must in the effort to keep vector-based diseases such as dengue at bay.
With this in mind, the Tutong District Police Station yesterday held a cleaning campaign at its station, working alongside Tutong District Health Department officials in raising greater public awareness on the importance of workplace cleanliness.
Tutong Police District Commanding Officer Supt Haji Chipli bin Haji Mohamad said the campaign initiative was carried out to support the effort of the Ministry of Health and the Tutong District Health Department in providing awareness on preventing mosquito-borne diseases.
The campaign spanned across the working area to the residential area of the Royal Brunei Police Force.

Supt Haji Chipli highlighted that maintaining cleanliness is crucial as the station is in public vicinity and frequently visited by the public.
He also urged for frequent clean-ups at police stations not only to prevent mosquitoes from taking hold of the area, but so as to ensure a beautifully spruced environment.
Before the spruce-up, a briefing was held discussing the importance of cleanliness, the different types of mosquitoes and diseases, mosquito breeding grounds and ways to keep them at bay.
The event also saw a presentation of pamphlets and posters to Tutong District police officers by the Senior Health Officer at the Tutong District Health Department, Koh Kik Fok.
