Bangladesh High Commission marks 45th Victory Day

THE Bangladesh High Commission in Brunei Darussalam celebrated its 45th Victory Day, led by its High Commissioner to Brunei Darussalam, Mohammed Abdul Hye.

A large number of people from the Bangladesh community participated in the programme enthusiastically.

The auspicious occasion began with the hoisting of the Bangladesh’s national flag by the high commissioner as the national anthem of Bangladesh was being played.

The event also witnessed special prayers, reading of messages from the president and prime minister of Bangladesh, and a discussion session of the Bangladeshi community.

Waliur Rahman, Counsellor and Head of Chancery, was also present at the event.

At the discussion meeting, Mohammed Abdul Hye spoke on the significance of the Victory Day of Bangladesh. The special prayers were offered for the salvation of the departed souls of liberation war martyrs as well as for peace, progress and the well-being of the people of Bangladesh, he said.

Meanwhile, the Bangladesh High Commission also organised a cultural event at the StarLodge, Jerudong to celebrate the Victory Day.

The cultural event saw children donning colourful dresses participating in various activities including colouring contest for children, rendering poems and performances on the country’s patriotic songs. The performance featured traditional music instruments such as the Tobla and Harmonious.

Token prizes were distributed by Mohammed Abdul Hye to the children who participated in the cultural event.

The guests were also treated to a dinner.
