10 RBPF retirees from Belait, Tutong feted

TEN retired personnel of the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) from the Belait and Tutong districts were feted yesterday in an appreciation event held at the Community Hall of Kampong Pandan.

Present as guest of honour at the event was Senior Superintendent Haji Mohd Hassan bin Pehin Penyurat Awang Haji Ahmad, Acting Director of Administration and Finance at the RBPF. Several officers and members of police force also attended the function.

The guest of honour presented souvenirs to the nine lower-ranked retirees and a former officer of RBPF in recognition for their contribution to the force.

The retirees were Former Acting Officer-in-Command of Belait Police District, Superintendent Mohd Hadini bin Haji Othman who served the force for 31 years and 10 months; Sergeant Major 1565 Kalong/Ibrahim bin Ismail who served for 37 years and four months; Sergeant Major 1450 Jamil bin Haji Abas who served for 35 years and five months; Sergeant Major 1444 Wong Hong Seng who served for 37 years and one month; Sergeant Major 2420 Anggi anak Tutong who served for 28 years; Staff Sergeant 1546 Salleh bin Haji Metussin who served for 35 years and 11 months; Staff Sergeant 323 Talip bin Naim who served for 36 years; Staff Sergeant 2148 Nurul Iswadi bin Abdullah who served for 32 years and five months; Sergeant 1499 Mohd Kifli bin Abdullah Uja who served for 34 years and nine months; and APO/Lance Corporal 5351 Nyanggai anak Elija who served for 36 years and 10 months.

The guest of honour’s spouse, Hajah Dayang Norayati binti Pehin Orang Kaya Shahbandar Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Mohammad Nawawi, presented gifts to the spouses of the retirees.

In his speech, the current Acting Officer-in-Command of Police District Superintendent Ariffin bin Haji Jafaruddin, who was also the event’s advisor, reminded the guests and attendees that retirement is one of the important crossroads in a person’s life.

“These times, you need to ponder over your direction whether to invest your time in a new career or to spend time with family,” said the superintendent.

“Even after retirement, there is still energy and spirit to carry on and contribute to society,” he added.
