CLOSE to 5,000 Tutong residents, including 4,787 registered participants, braved the hot day in a massive procession around the Pekan Tutong marking the Maulud Nabi celebration yesterday.
The procession is one of the most important events in the religious calendar for Muslims in commemorating the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh).
The Maulud Nabi procession was held in all four districts simultaneously.
The procession in Tutong District was led by First Admiral (Rtd) Dato Seri Pahlawan Abdul Aziz bin Haji Mohd Tamit, Deputy Minister of Defence as the guest of honour.

The march, which started and ended at the Muda Hashim Primary School, commenced with a mass recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah led by Haji Mohammad Aidil Sufian bin Haji Mohd Yassin, Mosque Affairs Officer, Hassanal Bolkiah Mosque, Pekan Tutong.
Around 40 teams took part in the procession around Pekan Tutong this year, covering a distance of 2.7 kilometres.
