THE Kampong Putat Village Consultative Council and the Kampong Putat Mosque Takmir Committee yesterday held a mass Maulud Nabi gathering and procession to further glorify the celebration of Maulidur Rasul.
The ceremony was held at the Herbal Recreational Park in Kampong Putat.
The ceremony began with a speech by YB Awang Haji Jumat bin Akim, member of Legislative Council, also the Village Head of Kampong Putat.
In his speech, Haji Jumat explained that the religious ceremony was the fourth of its kind to be conducted and was aimed at commemorating the birth of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) which is celebrated every 12 Rabiulawal.
“The ceremony also aimed to foster close ties not only among the committee members but also with the residents of Kampong Putat,” he added.

Prior to the procession, the ceremony began with a Dikir Marhaban by the Kampong Putat Youth Dikir Group followed by a mass call of Selawat led by Jaharnor bin Haji Rungging. The procession started at the Herbal Recreational Park which then proceeded to Bukit Belanit and ended at the Kampong Putat Mosque.
The ceremony was then enlivened with a religious talk delivered by Isham bin Ismail from the Islamic Dakwah Centre.
