THE descendants of Haji Kura bin Abu Bakar recently held their first annual family gathering at Badi’ah Hotel in Bandar Seri Begawan. Organised by the second generation of Haji Kura, the event was attended by 60 people including the children, grandchildren, great grandchildren of the late Haji Kura and the late Pengiran Hajah Siti Ajar, and some guests.
The event began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah led by Abdus Salam bin Haji Jahari, followed by an opening remark by the first grandchild, Zurainah binti Haji Mohd Alidin, as the chairperson.
The event also saw performances by the great grandchildren in teams ‘Fangtastic Girlzz’ and ‘the Godams’. One of the highlights was a ‘Lip Sync Battle’ participated by the grandchildren of Haji Kura.
There was also a cake-cutting session for January birthday celebrants namely Norjulaika Mariatul, Mohd Wafauddin, Nurul’Ain, Nurazean and Azib Zidane Zidnafann. The event was also enlivened by fun games such as ‘Guess Saja Tah!’ and Butterfly Hunt Game.
The overall best performance voted by all guests was won by ‘Fangtastic Girlzz’, who performed ‘Best Friends Forever’ and danced to ‘Worth It’ and ‘Uptown Funk’. Ahmad Faris Al-Bahzi bin Haji Ahmad Farhan was crowned as the ‘Prince of the Night’ for his active participation and Aanisah Ashrafina was crowned as the ‘Princess of the Night’ for her outstanding performance.
The event concluded with lucky draws, followed by the recitation of Surah Al-‘Asr led by Mohd Naqib Nukman bin Mohd Azren.
