THE National Service Programme’s (PKBN) 7th and 8th intakes took part in a three-day health awareness curriculum initiative, aimed at encouraging a healthy lifestyle for the country’s youth.

The programme, hosted at the Health Promotion Centre in Commonwealth Drive, saw some 73 PKBN trainees taking part in briefings and group-based activities focussed on topics such as the importance of a healthy diet, dangers of smoking, stress management and positive self-worth, sexually transmitted diseases and teen pregnancy issues, food safety and communication skills.

On the final day of the event yesterday, the participants were divided into groups for performances based on the knowledge and skills they honed from the first two days of the programme.

With such programmes, the Health Promotion Centre hopes the participants will be able to maintain a healthy way of life and at the same time adopt healthy living practices in their daily lives, aside from sharing the message to other youths.

A total of 298 PKBN trainees have so far completed the programme.
