IN CONJUNCTION with His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s 69th birthday celebration, the Sultan Sharif Ali Sengkurong Mosque Muslimah Group hosted a 69 times Khatam Al-Quran at the prayer hall of the mosque. Present as the guest of honour was the spouse of the Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs, Datin Hajah Jamaiah binti Haji Abdul Manap.
The religious ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah followed by the recitation of verses of the Al-Quran and Takhtim by the Khatam participants.
A Doa Khatam by a Khatam participant concluded the ceremony and the event was highlighted with the performance of the Dikir Marhaban while participants were sprinkled with scented flowers and perfume as they walk past the guests, a tradition in every Khatam ceremony.
The Khatam participants comprised Muslimah group members from Sultan Sharif Ali, Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam, Kampong Masin, Paduka Seri Begawan Sultan Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien, Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien, Pengiran Muda ‘Abdul Mateen and Kampong Pengkalan Batu mosques as well Muslimah Group from Kampong Mata-Mata Religious Hall.
