MASHHOR Offshore Painting Services (MOPS) Sdn Bhd, a fully owned subsidiary of the Mashhor Group of Companies held a Doa Selamat at Kuala Belait Wharf on board a vessel ‘Salvin Topaz’ to commence this year’s offshore painting campaign. The event was held on February 25, 2016.

The Chairman of Mashhor Group of Companies Malai Haji Abdul Hamid bin Haji Malai Mashhor was present during the occasion with few of the Mashhor employees and Brunei Shell Petroleum Co Sdn Bhd’s (BSP) staff.

The chairman highlighted that we expect MOPS to deliver an excellent service of highest quality to BSP and prove its capability by not just meeting the requirements of BSP but exceeding the standards set in the earlier years of the contract.

He also said that MOPS has a bigger role to play and the significance of this contract is very high, as it aims to protect the integrity of the assets, which support the economy of our country. He particularly emphasised the need to work safely and reminded of the BSP slogan “You and I will go home safely”.

We were informed that MOPS is training young and enthusiastic Bruneians who are keen to develop their career and development in various skills.

We understood that many of the local skilled scaffolders, blaster painters in the local industry were once trained under Mashhor.

Few of the locals once joined the company as trainees are now assuming key positions in the contract management team at present in MOPS. The training and development is a continuous process, which MOPS is committed to progress with further.

The ceremony of Doa Selamat was organised to seek blessings for the operations this year to be safe and successful. The event was blessed with a Doa Selamat and a cake cutting ceremony to mark the commencement of MOPS offshore painting campaign this year.

BSP awarded this contract to MOPS, which commenced from March 2015. Before this new term, MOPS was already executing this contract since year 2007. Recently MOPS has achieved a mile-stone which of 6.5 million man-hours without any Lost Time Incident for a continuous period of nine years.
